The first and foremost factor of learning how to treat acne is first by not ignoring your symptoms. It is true that acne is perhaps the most common skin abnormality in the world but this does not mean when you experience acne that you are to do nothing about it. Although it is quite common it can also be quite damaging as well in regards to your skin and your psychological state as well. Many people do not recognize how much stress and anxiety acne breakouts can cause but they do create many negative social implications that can greatly alter someone's life is not controlled to a certain degree.

First you need to gently wash your face twice a day with a mild soap and warm water to remove dead skin cells and any oil and topical bacteria your skin collects throughout the day. You then need to find yourself a topical acne treatment which can be bought over the counter than contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid as these are the two most effective acne fighting ingredients. Lastly, you will want to strictly follow these helpful acne skin care guidelines.

  • Do not pop or squeeze you acne (blackheads, whiteheads or pimples).

  • Gently wash your face twice a day with a mild cleanser.

  • Use cosmetic products and toiletries that do not clog your pores. Meaning they contain very if any levels of oil.

  • Avoid aggravating your acne in any way from keeping your hair out of your face to trying to avoid wearing masks or helmets that may sit on top of an acne breakout.

  • Always give new acne products enough time to work, do not give up too fast. Allow at least 6-8 weeks before you decide it does not work.

  • Always use treatment medications as directed.

  • Avoid over exposure to the sun, this includes tanning beds and lamps.

By writing down these helpful tips and sticking to them you will find it to be a winning combination. This type of skin care regime is geared towards people with moderate acne. If you are suffering from a more severe case of acne than you will want to see a dermatologist to create your own unique skin care regime that is geared towards your specific acne case.
